An Evening at the Fishshop

Here are some of the finds after an evening at the fish shop:

Nandus nandus - a carnivorous freshwater perch

Caught on Digital Film - One of the Seven Deadly Sins - Gluttony !
A greedy Nandus nandus was trying to swallow a cory whole ... unsuccessfully. One of the spines of the cory has pierced through the mouth of the perch locking both fishes together !

Assam Fish Heads
Four curious Assam Snakeheads peeping over a piece of driftwood

Channa stewartii - A colourful species of snakehead from India

Wolf Fish - A ferocious freshwater oddball species

Payara - another ferocious freshwater oddball species

A rare and newly discovered species of cichlids from Rio Salto in South America

Indian Sun Fish

Sturgeon Catfish

Australian Lungfish - A rare and very expensive species of lungfish. It is one of the longest surviving species on Earth having been around for more than 350 million years.

Thanks. Just the usual PS - colour cast removal, levels, curves, etc. Nothing very fanciful. I try to ensure that the colours of the fishes in the pics match those in real life as much as possible as these are meant to be stock photos. Come to think of it, I don't seem to need to do much USM in PS nowadays as the sharpening done in Capture One during raw conversion is usually quite sufficient.

I was quite lucky that night and managed to get a couple of candid shots. I shoot mainly in RAW so that I can get better colour cast removal during RAW conversion. You know how difficult it is to get crystal-clear and colourless water in live-fish shop.
