is it okay for a digicam to be X Ray-ed at airport security checking ?

Should be fine, I've let mine through on my trip to australia, it's still working as of today

The only thing that i negotiated with the customs was not to have my SM cards go through the x-ray. Not sure whether it affects the SM, but read some feedback that it's ok, but pls confirm it with ppl who have personally done that.

Mine went thru with some CF cards, but no problems encountered later...Heck, I didnt even think abt this beforehand...Scary

There's this film safe x-rays at the customs nowadays. I've always thougt it's safe then for the DC coz the electronics are almost the same... Now that you mention, shucks man, dunno if it'll cause any long term damages.
