Hi AE-1 owners,

Just wondering if there are two different versions. Is your AE-1 black/silver or full black?

i dun remember seeing a full black AE-1... think it only came in black/silver

for AE-1 Program, they hv both... i hv the full black version. after tat, i got the EOS1... so the AE-1 P goes into cold storage.

AE-1 is Black/Silver
AE-1P is Black or Black/Silver

I have a full black version of the Canon AE-1. Still working fine.

My black AE-1 is having the battery problem. What battery r u using?

check this site for a manual (if you haven't got one)
http://www.canonfd.com/choose.htm, the battery info is on page 15 of the AE-1 manual.
But you might not find the ones recommended in '78 in stores now, I use a Duracell 6V lithium battery instead.

it'll take a 4LR44 6V battery. the ones you'll commonly find are either by maxell or sony.
