Advise on Wide Angle Lens

Can someone advise which wide lens I should get for canon 50d?
1) EF 28mm f/2.8 $389
2) EF 35mm f/2 $549
3) EF 24mm f/2.8 $669

Price quoted on canon website. Which is better or more worth it or more necessary to get?

On a crop sensor a wide angle lens will seem to have a smaller field of view. Worth it or not depends on how wide you want. For pricing specifics and alternative options u might get more response from the Canon forum.

The 35mm will have a slight one stop advantage with having a larger aperture

so getting lens with f/2.8 will be a better choice. Mmm.. very new with cameras. which lens wld u advise me to get? cos this camera i share with my hubby. this lens is a xmas gift for him. cos he plays with photography more than i do. is 28mm enuf?

I cannot really describe how wide a 28mm is exactly ( multiply that by 1.6 will be what you will roughly be getting on the 50d - almost like a 50mm prime lens on a 35mm sensor / film ).

You have a kit lens / zoom lenses that has the range of 24 / 28 / 35 mm to compare before your decision / purchase ?

on a crop sensor, even a 24mm lens does not really consider a wide angle....

find out what he really like to take, so it will be easier for people to suggest something more piratical.

Mine is kit III EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

I tink he prob wants to take scenery shots as we are heading to hokkaido & Tokyo in end of jan (CNY period)

grab a tokina 12-24mm f4. if scenery shots...u dun need such low F anyway. furthermore, i wouldnt consider 24mm aint wide egh for me...i like to shoot at 12mm...or even lower if i can.
