Hi all,

Again, I would have to seek the kind advice of experts here on something.

I studied basic photography in school, and have been using an analogue camera
for some time now (Nikon F-601).

Recently, have been interested in getting a digital SLR, together with an
accompanying telephoto lens.

However, there are so many types of DSLR & lens that I'm not sure which to start off
with. I travel alot and I want a camera that allows me to take good street/scenic
shots.

I'm more of a Nikon fan, but am open to other brands as well. :)

Thanks for any advice given.

Many would say, "It's the man behind the camera", rather than the camera brand...

Find one that you are at ease with, and start shooting. Canon has better telephoto lenses than Nikon, while Nikon has better WA lenses than Canon. Nikon lenses can be used on Canon via adaptor, but not the other way...

since you already have a Nikon F-601 body and lens
if you buy another Nikon Body (eg D70/D70s/D50)
you can still use your old lens and if you buy another lens (non DX)
you can still use it on your F-601
