Advice needed - Is D5000 worth getting?

Hello, i'm a newbie with a tight budget, Saw the D5000 brand new, going for $1200. Comes with 18-55 & 55-200 nikkor lens. Is this model worth getting for good pics?
Anything i should be aware of about this model before i buy and regret?

d5000 for 1.2k? don't think its worth it.
d5100 sells for 1.1k brand new, or d90 for 1k brand new.

I don't think this is a good deal. Note that both D5000 and 55-200 are the older models.

With $1199, you can get D5100 with 18-55.

D5100 is the newer model with vari-angle 3" 921,000 pixel TFT LCD screen, 16.2 MPixel, 14 bits Expeed 2 processor, improved ISO up to 6400 (till ISO 25600 with boost). Although come with 18-55 only, I don't really bother with 55-200 as it's an older lens anyway.

hmm I dont think it's a good deal

with $1200 you can the 5100... only thing is without 55-200, but you can get a used one here in BnS which is around 2xx =)

Betw. D90 and the 5000 series, it's D90 any day for me.
