Advice needed for a new Desktop DIY

Just a comment.
Last time when I subscribed to Singnet broadband, the salesgirl asked me whether my PC using Intel chipset or not. She said I needed Intel chipset to connect to Singnet broadband. I am not sure why.

don't forget to get lots of good RAM and good harddisk (especially SCSI ones).
