I have a D7000 with 2 kit lens (18-105mm & 50mm 1.8). I do general photography and hope to dabble in some macro photography.
Intend to get a brand new macro len and a telephoto up to 300mm. With a budget of <$1400, I am thinking of getting the Tamron SP AF90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1 and Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED. Are my choices sound? Any recommendations on alternatives? Cheers

I have used the Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 SP Di Macro. It is a simple but very effective lens.

As for the telephoto end, there's always the cheaper Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED VR and the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR.

Then there's also the Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 SP Di VC USD.

I'm currently using the Nikon AF 300mm f/4D IF-ED for my telephoto needs.

Yea i will say Tamron SP AF90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1 is a good choice...its a very sharp lens.
