Hi! all. i currently have a Nikon D5000 with 18-55mm kit lens & Sigma 18-250mm lens. Read online that there are lens converter or adaptors that can allow nikon lenses to be used on Canon DSLR. I'm thinking of buying the Canon EOS 650D body only & still be able to use the 18-55mm & Sigma 18-250mm lenses on the EOS 650D body. Is this possible? I found this product in ebay but need more confirmation whether this will work & is it available locally if it works.

And manual aperture only - provided your Nikon lens has an aperture ring.
Think again, you are trying to adapt some lower end consumer lenses from Nikon to Canon where Canon has the similar (consumer) lenses in the line-up. Frankly speaking quite pointless, also considering the drawbacks with regards to manual focusing and aperture. People with old and/or famous/expensive Nikon lenses will use adapters. For you, I would suggest rethinking why you want to change to Canon. At entry level most cameras are similar, with some other brands even offering more features for the money. Invest in learning and skills, will have a bigger impact on your pictures than changing from C to N or messing around with lenses and adapters.

What do you think the Canon can provide that a newer Nikon body (like the D7000, etc) or a Sony, Pentax, etc, cannot?

This sounds like an awful lot of trouble for so little more. Or less really.
