Think of getting a adapter ring to step up for possible filters. Current 49mm C-PL caused heavy vignettes and i read somewhere here 52mm slim and above are the best bets. Though 62mm is the safest.

And the headache here is, I have an old SLR which is 52mm. Without any filter etc.

Thinking i might want to play around with the old SLR too. So, should i buy 52mm or 62mm ?

What about future expansions? Which is more common?

Thanks

you could also get a step-up for your SLR's lens.

So that means it's better for me to get 62mm step up ?

u might want to reconsider. using the 49mm ultra thin may be better than a standard 49mm filter. that's coz the normal filter is normally thicker (eg. 7mm for the hoya cir polar vs 5mm for the ultrathin cir polar). if u step up, then the xtra adaptor needed will increase the thickness as well. ;p
