Is it by law that all potential wedding newbies have to be a member of wpas?

Is it by law that all potential wedding newbies have to be a member of wpas?

 hmmm... if we have ministerial powers....mabbe.... just need Parliament to endorse it.

But do you see any "by law...must" thingy in my post? In that case please point it out to me so that I can change it. (Cuz we got no ministerial powers  )

Hi,

Thanks to those who have stepped up to the plate to lead WPAS. I think the intentions are clear: to give credibility to the industry as a whole.

However, I wish to ask: For the $170 that is paid as membership fees, what does the individual get in return? In short, what are the benefits?

(In a truly altruistic world, we'd say we'd be contributing to the greater good. But realistically speaking, $170 is hard-earned cash for some, so I think it's only fair to expect some sort of returns.)

Also, what is the progress like? At the last AGM, a few issues were left pending. It's hard to get any information from the website. I understand everybody's busy. Not pushing anything, but just wondering, that's all.

And finally, how would WPAS compare with WPN? In terms of organisation & purpose, mission, etc?

Thanks again.

"The one and only reason that you should join WPAS as a member is that you derive an income from the wedding market. As a player in the market, you want to be part of a system or standard that can be understood, recognised or just simply be identify as a member of an association that abide by a code of conduct and practices." (cut and paste from an earlier thread with no response)

Were you at the talk and AGM?

An Association verse a marketing network, totally different. I'm not sure what's your point and why are you asking these, but come forward and be heard. Pls join in the committee meeting and help out in sub-committees. There's a platform for all to perform and to help shape WPAS into a wedding professionals association.

I'm not the official spokeman of WPAS, I'm not a wedding photographer, but I believed in contributing towards its cause and professionalism.

Hi, if I want to hire a bro to shoot wedding veil photos. Where can I get the photographers information from the association?

Thanks!

Ya i think for $170.00 is alot of money for that much of information and publicity , just like the PPS ( Professional Photographer of Singapore ) .Meet 3 or 4 time a years just to drink and talk **** .Anyway when a clients meet a photographer they dont care where you come from or where you belong they just you to deliver a very professional presentation or a recommation from a close and trusted friend.

Dear all,

Ellery, WPAS Vice-President, will be the official spoke-person for all replies in CS.:)

Yay~

Its great hearing the response so far - besides photographers, we have in attendance various other wedding vendors too. It's very heartwarming to see members of the industry supporting the association and its mission. :)

We're looking forward to finalising our total head count, so for those who haven't confirmed their attendance yet, we'd be happy to offer you a special rate of $65 instead of $98. Drop me a PM by 8th Sept Tuesday, latest.

Good to note too that from 530pm, various photography related vendors will be showcasing their latest products. From 530pm also, we're having three free pre-dinner talks organised.

530pm to 600pm - Malay Wedding Customs and Flow of Events (By Razin, Pixelwave Productions)
600pm to 615pm - Studio Lighting (By Eng Howe, Montage Studios)
615pm to 645pm - Chinese Wedding Customs and Flow of Events (By Leonard, Leonard Photography)

Those who have already confirmed their attendance for the dinner would also be happy to note that we've arranged some really attractive lucky draw prizes for you guys.

The grand prize (kindly sponsored by Cathay Photo Stores) is a set of Elinchrom BXRi 500/500 To Go Set worth $2500!

:) :) :)
