Hi all I am not sure if this has been done but I thought it might be nice if birding gurus can share some information of what kind of birds can be located at which public parks and it would be nice if you know the time of day these birds appear most frequently so that newbies like me can have a higher rate of spotting the birds.
I have read through the guidelines for posting bird pictures so we shall keep to the non-endangered species. If you have a sample pic of the bird at a particular location it would be nice too.

[Moderator do let me know if this is not allowed] thanks.:dunno:

Maybe we can start off with Bukit Batok Nature Park. I have seen quite a few photos people shared but I was wondering if specific birds roam around a particular region of the park? If so maybe gurus can help share information on which area we might see specific birds, animals are welcome too LOL.

yup but the info is in bits and pieces so it's not that easy to dig out information esp when the title never mention the location, unless I have to read all the posts one by one to see if the location is mentioned. So I thought maybe it might be helpful for some of us if we have consolidated information.

Then this should be over there, not here.

Haha sorry for wrong location: I thought the posts under that section seem to be for pictures only not discussion. Moderator help?

Let me start off with what I saw:

Anyway what time would be best to see birds? Early morning? Mid afternoon or evening based on your experiences? I went to Bukit Batok NP in evening and didn't see any special birds

ha ha soon enough...... THIS thread when it gets long enough.....it will suffer the same fate of having scattered information

I'll bring it up to Admin to see about starting a discussion section dedicated to Nature photography ?

In the meantime can do us a favor by using Thread Tools right on top of this thread .... use the drop-down menu and choose 'Move Thread' and re-locate it to World of Nature ?

Thank you

ed

p/s nice pics........ try posting larger sized images of around 800-900 pixels on the long side ?

hi TS i believe the reason why birders do not share the birding spots openly is because to prevent overcrowding of photographers going to shoot the birds. animals in the wild are very sensitive and easily disturbed esp animals rearing their young. in order to protect them as much as possible, we try not to share it openly.

those season birders did lots of research and studies on the birds to know where and when the birds will be around. you need to love birds or animals and know their habits and behavior, like where are the favourite route or perches the birds or animals will go etc, and not just going down to a nature area and expect to get good returns, and in a tropical dense settings like singapore, its kinda hard to find them. sometimes its down to luck cos there are always surprises in nature photography, but knowing the animals well will give you an upper hand in finding them.

for a start you can check wikipedia, there is a list of birds in singapore and where to find them. cheers :)
