A small pocketable camera with MANUAL ZOOMING facillity

I want to buy Pocketable Compact Camera with MANUAL ZOOMING facility because it takes too much time when we zoom electronically, is there any model of any reputed brand available with Manual Zooming Facility ??? Please help.

Pocketable and manual zoom? Sounds like you are limited to Fuji X10 and XF-1

as far as i know, the Fuji X10 and XF1 are the only compact digital cameras with manual zoom mechanisms - and like undergrd mentioned, the XF1 is the pocketable one...the X10 doesnt really fit a pocket

let me reply that for u too: i find manual zoom to be easier to use, but it depends on the design of the camera. the sony RX100 has a control ring which can control zoom, kinda like a manual zoom ring, but the camera is so compact that i find the two-handed operation to be slightly less comfortable than using the usual zoom rocker switch

however, the X10, and the XF1, are designed such that it just feels natural, and that overall experience is (in my opinion) nicer than the RX100.

oh and if ur buying now, u might as well wait for the new Fuji X20...designed exactly like the X10, but with better performance, it appears

EDIT: the S100 is a good camera, but zoom is not manual. i'd suggest the X10/XF1/X20 over the Canon if u can afford it

Very good picture with no grains in dark areas, X 10 is very good but costlier than XF 1.

Pentax Q is very costly and you have to buy separate lenses, I think XF 1 is better.

It 'was' costly.
Now it about $500 locally. (IIRC)


I'm sure it does a bit more than most pns.
