GEYLAND LOR 15 LO
Just saw the news just now. A guy drunk and went back home last nite, a few guys approched him and offer to send him home...since he was drunk, he does not have any defence. After entering the lift, the guys started beating him up and even draw a knife. He was kena beaten up badly. And after that, the bad guys take away his $$$ and phone...wat da ya think??

ps. I had not seen any police petrolling the streets for very very long time?! Only Cisco police guarding the ATM machines, wat is going on man???!!!

becos they have diverted too much attention on terrorism.

hope this will be a wake up call to the police officers there. if such small crimes they cannot control, can u imagine wads going to happen to singapore when the casino is bulit ?

since the police center was set up,i seldom see police post open and also less police patrol.
maybe it's because i seldom on the street nowadays.

Boat quay got alot every weekends. :D

maybe thats only for tourists to see.. which tourist will walk behind your yishun kopitiam and eat durian outside the stall.

Come on lah ... be fair to the Police. They can't be every where at the same time!

oie.. u ah... when can we go ur hse and watch CSI ?? whahahaha

u watched too much "Judge Dredd"... tsk tsk

Anyway... sometimes we took personal safety for granted... most of us think that singapore is very safe...

nope, you can't say this, different defense dept have different job scope, as for terrorism, it shld lie under the charge of the ISD and the arm forces and not so much on the police even if its the police, i think most prob only the STARS will be involved in term of real actions. Cases like this are usually dealt with by the neighbourhood police and I do think they are doing their job, at least i feel safe in going out late in the night most of the time. And glennyong, it is not the case of small crime that police officer cannot control but you don't expect every citizen or pple living in singapore to have a personal police officer by your side 24hrs a day do you? Well you you want, you can alway hire a personal sercurity guard. Anyway even if the police officers were at the scene, I doubt that they would be able to help much as you can see, the victim was drunk, the grp of guy can also says that they are his friend and were sending him home and since the victim was drunk, doubt he would be concious abt his surrounding and happening much.

Residents also play a very important part in community safety. It takes two hands to clap. Without the community support, police cant do pretty much.

Hmm.. best is join those neighbourhood watch bahz.. Help each other and look out for which other. Just like what you guys said, police can't be anywhere and everywhere.

Singapore is safe but not 100% so... It's never safe to be alone at night and being drunk with valuables with you? Grabbing for attention to be robbed! As for ladies, it's unthinkable what more could happen.

To quote the Police, "Low Crime Doesn't Mean No Crime."

Sigh* I think the most likely reasons for crime rise is not becoz of manpower diverted to handle terrorism. It's more likely the closure of many neighbourhood police posts and setting up of central Police Stations. Just two nights back, I saw two policemen in the station idling (with both hands behind heads) in sofa (probably watching plasma?). Either way, even if they are not idling, they are giving the public a bad impression.

ya... kinda notice that, esp that time i accidentally opened a 'statement recording' room... den saw a bunch of policemen sleeping inside...

just a thought thou, how come most neigbourhood police post are closed after 8 or 10, and nearest would be so damn far away... its like imagine i am being beaten up, i thought there is a police post nearby, then when i ran to that & find that its closed, worse... the paper wrote... the nearest police post is like more then 10 bus stops away, would you...

1) run to that police post to seek help?
2) call out for help, and hope somebody really notice you...
3) lie down & act as if you have given up... rob me & go...

I find the incident kinda weird.

1) You dun need 4 persons to commit a robbery.
2) The whole incident took too long and you are giving chance for the victim to recognise you as well as allowing him to get sober.
3) If its a robbery, you dun need to waste so much effort to beat the victim up. You have enough people to hold him down even to strip him nake without hurting him.

You sure its a robbery?

Yeah, you are right! I find this weird also. Think he is a bengz also lo...offended some other gang members and then kena beaten up...

police also have to cut cost mah, if not they have to increase tax you know. that why most neighborhood (wrong spelling) are closed down to consolidate the resources, same like mnc.

also, due to low birth rate, now not enough manpower, compare to last time. last time they petrol (wrong spelling?) on bicycle. no no manpower, only have enough to do petrolling in car.

Aiyah please don't speculate lah. We do not know the truth but assume this and that. The newspaper already reported it. I really don't see why this should be posted in CS in the first place. Just let it be. Go shoot more.
