I am currently using a 40D and looking at the options of either getting a back-up cam or upgrading to a better cam and make my current cam the back-up.

Please advise also on people using G10 as a back-up cam. Pros and cons?

I am using a G10 as a back-up or in tight places! Its awesome. Shots are on par if not better with my DSLR. I always shoot M mode or A mode on the G10.

Cheers

What are you shooting?

As a back up, usually either it's smaller for portability, likePanasonic LX3, smaller than DSLR and reasonably good in taking low light shots.
Or Micro Four Third mount DSLR e.g. EP1 or GF1.

Or same mount Canon DSLR so you can utilise existing lenses and accessories

what's a good flash for g10? is the 270EX enough or should i get the 430EX?

I use my Sony H50 as my back up and close up shots (no micro lens)...:(
