Has any explanation been given for the cause of this accident? Can't seem to find.

'Freak' and 'Accident' explain why such things happen. If it is a repeated lapses or warning giving and nobody takes any action, then it is a different story. So, if there is anyone pointing fingers, these people should be put in charge and be responsible for such matters. See if they can guarantee no accident. Fair?

As a schoolboy actively playing soccer in my yesteryears, I almost immediately suspect this instead of poor maintenance.
That's why not much follow up statement from MOE or the school.
So don't blame on poor maintenance as the goalpost needs to be super corroded for that to happen.
