Wah anime fans. I think I like Hellsing better. Less dark?
I recommend some up coming ones,
RahXephon - Very nice, in line with Evangelion type of storyline. Music by Yoko Kanno, same as Cowboy Bebop.
Aquarian Age - Pretty good music
And for those who like fun shows, probably Love Hina is good. Should see also Love Hina Again, 3 additional episode of hit and bang.
And Don't forget the 1995 ANime Hit~

NGE is THE classic. Well, the next project after NGE by the company that did NGE was FLCL. Pretty good also but really silly at times, no thought provoking storyline like NGE.
Pity Singapore is real slow in releasing such anime, and maybe not at all. God bless the Internet.
True, but then I like the strong characterisation of the anime. Such individual indentities like Otohime Mutsumi (who appeared after around the 19 episodes) really cracks me up.
Oh oh, must try Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X), the movies,
Rurouni Kenshin OVA and Rurouni Kenshin Seisouhen. It is world apart from the TV series.
despite the controversial ending, the series is the one to watch. A similar anime ('complicated mech story') would probably be Gasaraki... [Dual - the comedic Eva clone shown on Starworld recently is a joke]

FLCL, or also known as Furi Kuri is by GAINAX. One kick ass soundtrack by The Pillows too.
Others I recommend would be
1. Chikyu Shojo Arjuna - Another with a great OST by Yoko Kanno
2. Cowboy Bebop - Did anyone notice that Faye Valentine was returning (last few episodes) to a place with what looks like a Merlion. That means she's from Singapore? Oh well, anime lah. Again, fantastic OST by Yoko Kanno.
3. Read Or Die - Weird storyline but great action sequence. You have a Gambit wannabe girl who can energise paper, called The Paper. :dunno:
4. Vandread, First and Second Stage - A bit childlish but nevertheless great mecha action.
5. Noir - Contemporary action anime.

1) Spirited away - nearly wanted to cry like a baby.. it is just so beautiful
2) Nausicaa of the Vallery of the Winds
3) Porco Rosso - simple story, yet it is just so enchanting
Those are by Hayao Miyazaki, his stories always leave some unanswered stuff..... and it keeps your mind on the characters, thinking what happened to them and you'll keep conjuring up fantasies on their further advertures.
4) Evangelion - as many people recommended. But you'll really need to go to some internet websites for discussion to get the true "experience" of the movie
5) Escaflowne
- one of my favourite
6) Ah My Goddess - girls should behave like her HAHAHA !!!

8) Graveyard of the fireflies - my sister and GF both cried when they watch the movie
