Nice pics you have there in pic #2, but would be better if the crop is not so tight, it'll be great to see the reflection of the dragonfly in the water.

settings? do you mean the exposure? the bright reflective water will result in the silhouetted effect.

the trick is to wait for the fly to return and hope for the golden rays shine on the mirror smooth water.

Some contrast and saturation boost in ps.

and oh, the location is upper seletar reservoir.
