The 1Beyond auto face tracking PTZ camera actually puts 2 cameramen out of their jobs. It has two built in lenses: - sending a static wide angle view and a PTZ close-up for instantaneous switching via HD-SDI.
Great for businesses, bad for freelancers.
Other similar solutions:
Dycap Perfect Track
DJI osmo mobile Active Track
Panasonic CTR1 camcorder cradle
Soloshot3
PIXIO

A little sad or maybe an opportunity for others? Many jobs in video production will be made redundant due to advances in computer vision and machine learning. Best for anyone entering the industry to make themselves indispensable through picking up more skills related to the creative process. As compared to highly technical cameramen, it'll take many more years before DPs start losing their jobs.

Perhaps this is good news for freelancers, since labour spent on manning the camera can be used for audio and lighting setups or time/cost savings can lead to higher production quality in editing.

Yeap, and enterprising freelancers can also be the ones to tap on these technologies and offer it as one of their many tools/solutions.

Cheap. Fast. Good.
We should find out from our customers which 2 qualities they prefer and deliver those.
If cost is not an issue for the majority, then there's immense pressure to be on the cutting edge.
Meaning investing in better more efficient video production equipment.
The best math I've ever been taught is:
Cost = Revenue-Profit (make profit constant, so cost can vary)
as opposed to:
Profit= Revenue-Cost

Revenue is vanity, profit is sanity.
