50mm lens test

Rounded a few popular 50mm lenses and took them out for a spin...



From left to right; Nikkor SC 50mm f1.4 ltm, Canon 50mm f1.5 ltm, Summarit 50mm f1.5 ltm, Zeiss ZM 50mm f1.5, Summilux 50mm f1.4 pre-asph.

Shot them all hand held on my M9, iso set to 160 in aperture priority mode. Bokeh test to follow...

I personally felt that the canon and nikkor are pretty close...wide open really nice...

Summarit seems to get better once stop down at f2 - f2.8 onwards...

ZM is performing well throughout...is this the newer design as it got a modern look in the pics

Thanks bro! The summarit is soft and has a swirl wide open which is nice to some and poison to others! My ZM copy is optimized for f2.8 I should mention, its modern clinical as expected!

Well, I won't stop here as yet, will be bringing the lenses out next few days to get more comparison in. Watch the space...

Already flaring at f4 if you look again... as for the ZM Sonnar, the bokeh balls are pretty harsh, quite irritating as a matter of fact!

For the second round, i'd go with you on the Canon & Nikkor!

summarit sold liao loh, u can pick both up anytime before i sell off too haha...
