this is called upsize. lots of pixels will be lost.
better to take on 1024, or 1280 then downsize.

no. 4R = 4 inches by 6 inches. a digital image has no "print size". you can print any image at any size just that the quality may suffer.

i'm no expert but a 4R is 4' by 6' and at 300dpi (for inkjets) you would need a 1200X1800 size file (2.1MP cam?)....but I've seen Fuji Frontier machines do it at around 200dpi --- so it would only require a 800X600 file for a 4R print...so your 1.2MP cam would suffice...any larger and you proably would get degradation....:)

erm... for a 200DPI 4R size print, the pic should be 1200x800....

hehe! u are rite! hehe!
anyway, a 1200X800 still yields a file less than 1MB,so the 1.2MP cam can still print decent 4Rs..rite!?

I believe most shops will indicate what is the recommended size of photos to submit to them for various print out size.

4 x 6 inch = 400 x 600 if image at 100ppi
= 800 x 1200 if at 200 ppi
= 1200 x 1800 if at 300 ppi
so i think u get the idea ;)

whatever, just send in pics at the highest resolution that your camera can produce. there's no need to degrade quality unless you need to send in files on a diskette. There's no need to worry about what "DPI" the printer uses too.
