Hi,

I am considering to buy a flash light but not sure which model to buy. My budget is around $200... Any advise?

Thanks!

checked up around the accessories forum:

seems like you'll need to get 2nd hand or 3rd party in order to get that price.

anyway, would you mind sharing what you need a external flashgun for?

From my experience, when covering events, the 400D's built-in flash will refuse to work after about 5 flashes about 1 sec apart. And it doesn't help the fact that I double tap my shots.
So an external flashgun helps as it can continously fire at least 5 shots in sucession, more than enough for me.

Cheers :)

The 400D does have on body FEC IIRC :) Yea you might be looking at a second hand 420ex for that price. Better to up the bedget a little to get maybe a second hand sigma or metz or even a 430 :)

I'm using the Speedlite 220EX but i think it's adequate enough :) But because it's free for me lol (found it from old junk :p )

For 200 budget, the best is probably a 2nd hand 420EX if ur lucky.

Note that on 400D body, you can no FEV settings.

what do u mean no FEV setting? confirm huh? is it impt?

300d is the 1 that doesn't have.... 350d already have FEV

That means flash exposure compensation. Since most canon DSLR has E-TTL II, it will adjust the flash output to obtain a "reasonable" exposure. But sometimes, you wish to tweak the exposure setting, so that the flash output "underexposes" the picture taken.
