Hi Guys,
Thanks for the infomation....
I will do some research based on your feedbacks and post my questions..
I am actually going there with my family.. no old folks though but there are 9 of us..
I am the only photo enthusiast around so the trip might be more sight seeing and touch an go. Thanks.
Rgds

Jason,
If you are a photo enthusiast as you claim you are, then I suggest you make this trip in the following ways:
1. Leave your camera at home, don't even carry a camera phone.
2. Bring along your camera and leave your 'excess baggage' aka family behind.
;p
Pardon me as I believe anyone who has a camera, whichever type it may be, will definitely be forgiven for wanting to 'grab' all that heavenly scenary
I was just there last week and since I joined a tour group, I have must to desire on the photo shooting opportunity and timing.
If I were to have the choice, I would have done the following having known more now whether you reach JZG by road or by air otherwise stay one night before ascending Huanglong (considering the notorious flight delays):
1. Be at Huanglong early. Before lunch and have lunch packed. We reached there only at 3 plus in the afternoon. There was no way I could have made it to the top and be back down before the place is closed at 6 plus. I met a couple at 5 pm as they made their way down, they started the climb at 1 pm.
2. Similarly, be at JZG as early as possible, pack lunch as suggested. Unlike Huanglong where it is a single way up/down by foot (discounting cable car where there is nothing to see enroute), buses bring you to places in JZG, it may be necessary to allow 2 days in order to cover adequately and leisurely, influence of weather not considered yet. Hopefully the crowd really dwindles by Nov as it would be quite a task to have your family getting onto the crowded buses.
Btw, weather in JZG/Huanglong is very unpredictable. It was -2 deg C and snowing when I was there so staying outdoor in freezing temperature is another consideration to be mindful of for your family.
I sincerely hope your schedule allows you more days over there as it is truly a very nice place to be. Both your family and you will enjoy the scenary. I personally am already planning to go there again next year with these lessons learnt.
Enjoy your trip.
