buy canon L lens....support original...

Not encounter such a thing...I have three 3rd party lenses and so far no such error at all

A simple way is ... take it back to the shop that you bought the lens and show the shopkeeper the problem. Maybe a solution to your problem can be made

Most 3rd party lens maker reverse-engineering on the OEM lens as they didn't paid licensing.
So if the lens is too old, it's show error 99 but if it's a recent ones then you can send it to
re-chip or re-program it.

Sometime it could be the contact is dirty so just clean it and try again.

The time to troubleshoot, make trips to service centre, not getting the pictures is:

time lost=money lost

The scenario below MAY happen:

Buy original lens at $1000, can sell away later at $700 - $800 (Depreciation about ~250)

Buy third party at $700, sell away at $400 ( Depreciation ~300)

Sometimes it is not worth the effort on the third party with sub-par performance and compatiility.

That scenario doesn't bother me since I buy to use not to sell ... I don't buy my equipment to sell ... If wanna sell, I rather open a camera shop ..
