pls dun go and buy a DSLR if u have no intention to pursue it seriously? far too often we have heard of stories of people buying DSLR, thinking dat a stylo-mylo cam will make them instantly an excellent photographer. far from it. more likely, the DSLR will show up how bad u & me are as photographers becos DSLR, IMO, are far less forgiving and P&S cams. once u buy and discover it doesn't make u an excellent photographer, u'll end up making a loss selling it later.
DLSR is a damn bloody expensive hobby. AlvicTay is right. u need to consider a system, rather than cams. i, as a canon user, like the D70 for its full functionality compared to the 300D (which is a dumbed down version of 10D). i sound almost almost like a canon heretic.... strange, but true, as any true blue 300D user will tell u. i briefly tested a D70 yesterday at a shoot with some frens. and i have to admit, the D70 is better in terms of functions. pic quality, both are similar. however, with PS nowadays, miracles can be performed... :bsmilie:
but, why i chose the 300D over D70? AlvicTay hits the nail on the head. i love the wide variety of lens available with Canon (not to say that Nikon has any lesser). the lens (3rd party or otherwise) for canon are slightly cheaper and easier to find as 2nd-hand, IMO. also, i love the almost-idiot proof layout and menu selections on 300D. trust me... i'm a living proof of proving anything idiot proof is NOT!
so, think carefully what u want to shoot, how often u want to shoot and how much are you willing to invest in ur hobby b4 buying? suggest u go to harvey norman or best to handle and test the cams first b4 commiting ur $$$. at the end of the day, it will more or less boil down to how comfortable u are with the cam.
