Yeah, the entire island is sort of overly commercialised, not entirely open up for the public I guess.

Alright guys, I have talked to some of my friends over at the Singaporeans community at deviantART, and perhaps we can organise both as an outing and a devMEET.

It should be around in the mid-December, more details will surface soon.

Meanwhile, do list down all of the abandoned housing estates known to you and I will start visiting them to survey each of the sites.

;)

can newbie join.. kinda interested.:)

I'm interested too, but weekends better ;p

I have my own vehicle and can car pool to transport some of the grp as well.

Keep us informed.
Cheers

I have just been advised that visiting a *SERS site might require us to get permission from HDB; a SERS building is no longer a public property.

Anyway, do list your name here if you are interested. I will start resourcing with a few help here if the result is encouraging. Maybe Sentosa as well, with her own fairshare of abandoned colonial style houses.

;)

The previous outing, to Seletar West Farmway 6:

*SERS: Selective En-bloc Redevelopment Scheme, where old HDB flats are selected to be vacant within 3 or 4 years and the existing buildings either abandoned or demolished.

Oui! Thats really kind of you, but erm as for the day, lets just see first. I need to get some confirmation on the location, people going, then the date. For now, I am starting to collate a list of such sites, and start surveying.

Yeah, according to the e-SERS, but from my memories, most are locked up aren't they?

I'm not sure le, need to check it up again

Yeah, since the apartment block becomes again a property of HDB, cease to exist as a public building. Anyway, anyone knows what happened to Block 852, Woodlands Avenue 7 or Woodlands Street 83? Saw it vacant for a couple of years yet nothing is happening.

I'm interested but just wondering, is it illegal to enter such buildings? Like are we trespassing or something?

If it's locked and boarded up then yes! ;p

Yes, as advised from a close family friend of mine, but generally, otherwise stated, its alright to simply visit the place and not damaging the property. ;)

Guys... & Gals....

I am really really interested in doing a mini project on old abundent buildings in Singapore.
Would like to see anyone interested too, so that we can form a group and do the exploring together. The core group may not be necessary be big group, maybe 2 to 3 person will do.

But we will post our outing dates on CS, so if there is anyone interested, they can join in as well.

I will not limit to old buildings, but we can also explore abundent shop houses, factories, rail road, bridges, sch, etc...

The core group will need to discuss and research possible location for the next outing.

What do you people think of this proposal?? I need a few supporters to form the core group.

Cheers,
Francis Tan.

I'm very interested :) count me in.
