Does anyone knows if it is advisable to get 2nd hand lenses from Prime Camera, Alex Photo & Anthony's Collection - just to name some?

If you know the market price and you know how to check, then yes.

make sure glass is clean and no fungus, make sure AF working. make sure rings are working.

actually there is a thread on how to check around. lol

These shops generally have good 2nd hand lenses because they should have checked the lenses before putting it on display.
