2013 RIP CURL SINGAPORE NATIONAL INTER VARSITY POLYTECHNIC WAKEBOARD CHAMPIONSHIPS
60 competitors representing the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), Temasek Polytechnic (TP), Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Republic Polytechnic (RP) and Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) will compete for national individual and team titles this weekend at Bedok Reservoir.
Teams from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Temasek Polytechnic competed in the first National Inter Varsity Polytechnic Championships at Sentosa Cove in 2002. Since then, the Rip Curl National Inter Varsity Polytechnic Wakeboard Championships have been held annually at Kallang Riverside Park till 2010, and at Bedok Reservoir in 2011 and 2102.
The Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) is the reigning Team Overall Champions and will be looking to defend their title.

EVENT SUMMARY
Wakeboarding is a freestyle sport that has developed from surfing and waterskiing, with influences from skateboarding and snowboarding. Wakeboarding is the fastest growing water sport in the world with competitors performing flips, tricks, spins and a variety of other gravity-defying aerial stunts, sometimes as high as 20-feet in the air. A competitive free ride format will be used and riders will be judged on 3 style categories: Execution, Intensity and Composition. Riders will perform complex maneuvers off the boat's wake.
