No I do not set the rule... wait and see, no one will do 7th month prayer on the 2nd 7th month.

yes most Chinese do not 'repeat' the 7th month prayers, but there are a number who continue to do so out of superstitious belief. anyway the '7th month' is originally not meant for 'hungry ghosts' it came from Buddhist communities' tradition of making offerings of alms to the monasteries during the summer monsoon, which during ancient time is a period of potential epidemic outbreaks and monks retreat into the monasteries. later on people incorporated ancestral worshipping, and yet later on the superstitious belief of hungry ghosts.

actually every 3yrs there will be a double 'chinese' month, the previous one is the double eighth month, so this time is the seventh and 3yrs later will be the sixth.:sticktong
