Would be going for tour in a few days time. My digital cam is using 2 AA rechargeable battery and on average can let me take 4 batt for about 60shots with/without flash.

My question here is should I bring more rechargable battery and charger there or get 1 or 2 CR-V3 battery.

Does battery like CR-V3 is more lasting ?

Hi, I have had good results with a Rechargeable CR-V3 battery. Available at most places. Gives markedly better results with my Nikon 3100 which used to die with Ni-Mh cells after only a few shots. Got mine at Cathay, cost about $45 with charger. Battery life at least 2-3X rechargeble AA's (2100mAh)

Think it's a voltage thing. AA's were not exhausted but camera kept showing low bat indication then switching off. Salesman at Cathay confirmed that many with this camera had similar problems.

Hope this helps.

Hi there's actually a firmware upgrade for the 3100 to avoid the problem of having low batt indicator come up even when your batt is fully charged. It's available at the nikon.com.sg website under upgrades. I should know cause I have the same camera too, but I didn't know there was a CR-V3 rechargeable available! Sounds good to me though. :) What's your definition of a few shots? Cos I can exhaust around 80 shots at high quality setting before having to replace the batteries which are 2000mAh Panasonic.

agree with kex. . . dont be too stressed out . . .enjoy your trip. .

Actually upgraded the 3100 firmware but battery life still stank, estimate 30-60 shots. Sometime leaving the camera off for a week without firing a single shot would bring on the low battery indicator.

Rechargable cr-v3's lasted at least 150 shots.
