it was a matter of time thing.. but the article specifically mentions compact point and shoot only.. which I would have to agree..coz Nikon's p&s are nothign to shout about.. compared to Olympus, and Canon..
In fact, when canon started to sell under US$1000 DSLR, it has already set the footing in the industry for more affordable DSLR launch every year. So I think we can expect at least one new model from Nikon every year since CCD sensor and memory technology is becoming more advance. And as price continues to fall for technology, newer model is expected to be more powerful.
Of course, Nikon or Canon may also withhold or go slow on these technologies implementation to newer model if the sales figure dissappoints them. But overall, more mid range DSLR with affordable price is expected to hit the market. Thus, a good news for SLR users who wish to make a switch & new photographers who choose DSLR over compact model.
