Funny, the 28-200 seems pretty good, and its also funny how come the 17-55 loses to both superzooms

Actually I find the close up shot capability of the lens OK but your newspaper ones seems to be not as good. See here.

Did you take it on a tripod coz the crops and range seems kind of inconsistent.

Nikon AFS 17-55 mm f2.8 DX

Tested few when I was buying and found them to be lacking in sharpness. Even mine and one belonging to a friend has AF accuracy problem at focal length shorter than 24 mm. AF seem Ok for longer end of the focal length. Need to manually re-adjust the focus ring to get a sharper photo.

Anyone else has this problem?

The 17-55mm that I am using is very sharp for focal lengths <24mm, even when wide open. No focusing issue either with the AF system... only problem that i had was the CA which I thought was bad in the copy that I am using...
