Hi guys, I'm about to buy a new d90. I would like some opinion as to which lens I should get, the body with a 18-105 for $1650 or the body with a 55-200 for $1818? Thanks!

personally i will go for the 18-105. you should be asking at which focal range do you normally shoot with.

take the 18-105mm vr for all rounder use.
if you just purchase with 55-200mm vr, you will still need the 18-55mm vr to tie up the loose ends...

If you are looking for a all-round walkaround len, I will recommend you 18-200mm VR over 18-105mm or 55-200mm.

They're really 2 different type of lenses, IMHO. If that would be your first lens, I suggest the 18-105VR. More flexibility.

I think what the TS is referring to is 18-105 vr or 18-55 vr + 55-200 vr.

go for 18-105 first this what i think:D

i reckon go for the 18-105mm VR lens. i use it and am very happy with it.

cool. from what is here and some research, i think i'm going for the 18-150. 18-200 too expensive for me, even though i would love it get one :)

You mean the 18-105mm VR?

TS, borrow your thread.
I'm now a happy user on 18-105 as the kit. But thinking of alot of people getting 18-200mm, but thats like 2x the price I gotta pay, even if I can get the 18-105 off at 400.
I'm wondering how big is the difference 105mm and 200mm, will the difference cover greater distance? Unable to find much samples to compare 105mm and 200mm.

agree go for 18-105, actually I can't understand why 55-200kit is more expensive than 18-105kit, is it means 55-200 will be expensive than 18-105?

sometimes the promote getting you a 55-200 then sell you a WC(x0.45) then tell you covers 25-200 -- better do try this :bsmilie::bsmilie:

anyway I don't use any kit lens, they are all not good enough, the best still 17-70 amount them

many different, depends what you shoot, or you may add a TC 2X or 3X in front? it's cheap, if you can be convinced by and a WC in front. then 18-105 covers 18--210 or even 315!:bsmilie:

I would recommend using a Extender instead instead of TC...
