17-85MM vs 17-55MM

Hi guys,

I just want to know more about why is EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM better than EF-S 17-85mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM ??

The 17-55 mm uses better quality glass (UD) for some of the elements giving sharper output and better contrast (IQ).
