Hi owner of 17-40L F4. Does your lens distance scale focus beyond infinity mark when you focus on far subject? Mine does, it even goes beyond the infra red index marking.

Thanks.

the lens scale is calibrated at a certain temperature. at different temperatures, there would be slight displacement....

but mine is not a slight displacement.. it is always going beyond the infinity mark in normal room temp.

Called Canon and was told that it is not possible for the distance scale to go beyond the infinity mark. Looks like I got to bring the lens down for a checkup.

i guess if it's affecting the focus of your photos then you should send it in for a checkup.

after all canon is pretty effective you should get back your stuff in 1-2 days.
