Sorry to butt in TS, my apologies.
Steventay, you don't need a dedicated macro lens but it does make shooting macro easier.
You can get a macro lens ($120 new or BNS) if your focus length is long (maybe 70-200)
Or an extension tube (~$160) if you are using 50mm or below but you will experience light loss of at least one stop.

hi, just a tip. It would be better to have Macro shooting at an earlier time. like 8 plus. weather is cooler, butterfly or insects is not too active yet.
