mac might not be facing 114000 viruses, but mac sure as hell do have viruses. its just a matter of numbers in proportion of windoze vs mac users in the market, hence the proportion of virus.

But then ... these viruses only affect the motorola chip based macs, not the newer Intel Macs (or it could be because of OS X) so its not really an urban legend. There are no viruses that hit the new macs yet.

actually, if u happened to read some trade magazines earlier this year abt the new mactels, security analysts predicted it will be far easier (theoretically) for hackers to program viruses for mactels, since they share the same system architecture as the wintels.

theoretically or not, again, its a matter of the number game. give it time, and u'll see new mactel viruses. as long as there are bo liao people out there, u are almost guaranteed a virus or two.

i think these affect os9 and earlier...and will probably affect the mac os classic. still waiting for os x ones.

in the first place, osx will ask you if you want to open a file
and you'll have to enter your password to run system affecting software

sure as hell macs have viruses
but none of them can propagate as well and efficiently as one for microsoft

I agree, but marketing wise, they are not wrong to say there mac OSX has no viruses, because there aren't any yet !

What's a virus? :bsmilie:
