Managed to catch it today.
This is a total reboot of the James Bond series. Back to his basics as Ian Fleming's driven, knuckle headed killer in Her Majesty's Secret Service. The text book style of earning his 00 status with 2 kills at the start. No more classy & charming 007 with his toys and fancy wheels. It's all raw! No Omega watches with built in lasers. No missiles in his Aston Martin but a very sophisticated First Aid Kit. There's a lot of depth and intensity in Casino Royale with the amount of emotional darkness in Bond. The show also highlights Bond's recklessness and egoistic approach which leads to mistakes being committed.
The latest installment is more of a reality than fantasy compared to the prequels where there's always a super villain whose intentions are to dominate the world (Dr. No, Elliot Craver, Colonel Moon), this installment focuses of terrorism which is very much happening around us today.
Really kept me cringed to my seat for the 145 mins.
This is the first 007 movie where both Bond girls die.
