Ian Flemming did write Casion Royale. However, most of the Bond movies, are based very loosely on the original book, and few, have absolutely nothing much to do with the book other than the name. Goldfinger is probably one of those that are closest to the original book.

That said, Ian Fleming wrote only 12 novels and 2 collections of short stories.

Btw, Casino Royale was infact the first of all Bond novel.

OIC, so i guess the quote 'base on novel by Ian Flemming' is quite valid in this 007 movie..i know that some james bond movie aren't based on the story..like the 4 movies by Pierce Brosnan..

Thanks for the information.

I like it, you have to use more brain power on this one. Not like the normal no brainer james bond movies. There a few part I like. One of them is the bartender ask him who you like your martini shaken or stir. Then he reply was so good. I am not going to tell you go and watch.:bsmilie:

"do i look like___________" :bsmilie:

Did any one realize that the actor resemble like Russian President Putin ? Maybe british & russian intelligent merge .

Although some of my female friends complain that he is one of the worse looking bond, I rate it 4/5 for the plot and actions. I feel that it is one of a more realistic Bond movie so far. At least he is not invincible this time, he bleed, poisoned and was cheated by woman.
I guess this was how he got his character... cool and a womanizer.

For those who think the dialogue was cheesy, just try watching one of the re-runs on Star Movies at the moment, particularly the Roger Moore era, where every line almost was a cheesy one liner. My favourite Bond cheesy one-liner: "I thought Christmas only comes once a year?"

And the best spy greeting by Pierce Brosnan in GoldenEye....
"In April's London's a Spring Month..."

Plz continue. :bsmilie:

Eurgh, my god, other way round, Brosnan was usless! Craig was brilliant, I love how they gave him a nasty streak, the witty one liners were brilliant too. An excellent film!

Just watched the show.. Craig did much better than I expected (arrogant with loads of attitude) and he's blonde! He does fit into the mold of the first of 007 novels. But my personal preference would still be Sean Connery :bsmilie:

Oh yar.. the show seems like a 2hr sony advertisement.

But they miss the point.
If I want hard action, then I'll watch a war movie.
Or rent a wrestling VCD.

This 007 has no mystique and is ugly. No acting skills (say, compared to Richard Burton or Laurence Olivier)

Blond is out of the tradition of all 007s.

Sean Connery is the best. No over acting.

If the film makers wanted ugly then why not just get some of our TCS low grade comedy "stars" -- you know who.

There is nothing attractive about this 007 film or shall I say,
it cannot create an aura of fantasy.

Like what Sean Connery can do in the 60's ? , 70's
with great films like Goldfinger, Thunderball,

This being 2006, there's no way a plot like the older bond movies is going to go down well. The comic book villains of brosnan's movies was just getting too much.

Daniel craig is a little wooden in this, and doesn't quite emote well, you can see it in his performance in l4yer cake, but overall the movie was not bad, except when they had to kill off his fiance. The pacing there was a bit to quick.

I'd looked back at the movies where Pierce Brosnan was James Bond.

Looking back, to be bluntly honest, his performance in GoldenEye is quite subpar. It only improved subsequently.

To Criag haters, give him another chance. Given that Casino Royale is story driven (and action freak fans who'll sleep at any movies with less than 3 explosions), it din made much impact amongst new Bond fans (esp where the previous 4 were all action driven).
