Need some advice on compact camera

Hi All,

Need some of your opinion on which brand should i choose for the compact camera.
My budget is abt $300++ to $400.
I saw there are quite a lot in market with this price,e.g canon,nikon,fijifilm,sony,panasonic...
Recently sony comes out quite a competitive price for $260++ for 7.2 megapixel camera.any advice on sony camera compare to canon?
Hope you allcan share some experience here.

Do you need Image Stabilizer? Do you shoot @ High ISO? Do you want more control over your camera?

The above 3 qns are quite common when I ask my friends who are looking for PnS. High megapixel does not really have much usage unless you are printing big (More than 4R).

For Canon, you can get their Powershot series if you need Image Stabilizer and more control over your camera. But Image Stabilizer is not a tripod, it only compensate a little bit of hand shake. A570 IS should fit the bill with your budget.
