Yes .. it would be interesting in that picture to crop off the bottom with the woman .. and you can easily pass that pic off as an Escher drawing.

First a disclaimer .. I don't have the 18-55 so I cannot really comment on it ... I do have the 55-250 and it shoots really sharp images. With regards to panning shots, I think what is more important is to have the correct focal length for the situation you are in. The IS and fast apertures...
