    Should WB always be corrected?

Due to the nature of the venue, and with different settings, shuttle speeds, flash, etc., consistency in white balance is always a challenge. Zac’s statement below had made it more complex, and so true. It’s important to know where you are and where your final destination, or the...

Competitive advantage(s) or “nice to have”

Yes, most clients have no clue in archiving. Is there a market norm or standard practice as to your responsibility as the photographer to archive the images and for how long. And in doing so, a competitive advantage? Would you as the photographer pay for the initial set up, say $200...

    Should WB always be corrected?

Yes, and hold it consistently. Most photogs correct or adjust the image singularly on it's own, it always looks great. But when you put a few of them together or appear on a page, errrrh…….different skin tone, greys and shadows. It would be challenging, …..consistency. Our eyes cannot measure...

Competitive advantage(s) or “nice to have”

With the competitive landscape in photography services, photographers are finding it hard to differentiate their services, prices, etc. 1) Are you responsible to archive (keep) the images? 2) How long (time)? 3) Would you provide a “space” online for “Archiving and Retrieval” of the images...

Is it hard to make a living out of photography?

An innocent question can attract the Veterans and Pros to respond, sharing wisdom, info and knowledge from the responses. All of us in the trade can benefit, not just the TS. Without which, it’ll be a very quiet forum. Hotwork77, I must agree with your points of view too. Broken record...

Is it hard to make a living out of photography?

You'll not know untill you try. Gifted, hardworking, skills, etc... Talk to the best and they will tell you that they did not do it for the money. And I believe them that it's not about money. Money as a fuel can only drive a X distance.

Is it hard to make a living out of photography?

Mix well or not, very much depends on how you look at it. From the outside, yes, it's a bed of roses. Too long on the job, not driven, unmotivated. Many horror stories. On another note that's relevant like staying married, blissed or nightmare?

    Motivation(s)....

Ego has and always been the main driver in motivation. It’s good to understand and tame this beast, that’s super-ego. Another relevant issue, when you do well. When a stupid or intelligent idea like "I can make money with photography" comes to mind, our ego is at play. When “I do it” with all...

    Motivation(s)....

Motivation(s) is a big word, ego is a small word within the “big word”. If motivation were the engine, ego would/can be “the wheels”. Using a small word like ego maybe over simplifying this argument. If you look or analyse “what drives us?”, you’ll find ego at work or play. Yes, branding is...

    Motivation(s)....

Money is a yardstick, a ruler to measure one's success and achievements. My definition, a 6” ruler for small success and a pullout measuring tape for big achievements. The driving force is ego and the distant travelled is ego-driven. The destination and achievement can be measured, failures...

Is it hard to make a living out of photography?

Let's settle this once and for all:bsmilie: Or never, by asking these questions. Are you ego-driven? Big enough to take the plunge?

Hobby and business have different motivations, primarily with ego at play. Ego is a small word with big conotation.

Hobby or business? Both have ego at works, different approaches, different motivations.

    Motivation(s)....

I would look at motivation(s) as a generic term for drives and ego as a definitive driving force. Ego has a thin line between negative and positive outlook, with egotistical as the extreme. If you are ever asking yourself as to why are you doing this or anything, it’s the ego that...

    Motivation(s)....

Ego = Motivation = Creations = Monies A lot of us do not want to admit that ego = monies, but generally in that orders. Driven is energy too.

    Where to find value-for-money durians?

Combat is definitely one of the best, would not push you for a sale. He'll trash it if it's not up to par. High quality durians are on "sales on returnable", generic are bought on "stock lot" or "mao". Another one is at Dempsey carpark, will charge you according to the car that you drive. My...
