Version 2 is more expensive as it has electronic contacts for your camera to be able to have metering. This is designed for people who have cameras which doesn't allow aperture ring to be used. You can simply buy version 1 if you're using D300 and above..

I'd be loving to have a bag that has a broader width for the shoulder straps.. It'd be so nice for people with broad shoulders. Not to mention that waist straps can be made to fit smaller waists.. (I'm a real odd size.)

I'm 100% sure that it can definitely go on a Gitzo 2531.
