Budget travel in Japan - tips and info thread

Just pay attention to the signs available and you should do fine. You'll get used to the system in a day or so. It may seem confusing when you are not yet there, but when you get there, it's really different. I was very intimidated before I got to Tokyo as well and we were ready to be lost on...

Budget travel in Japan - tips and info thread

There are many companies operating trains in Japan. Just Tokyo alone there are JR, Tokyo Metro and the smaller private lines. That's one of the reasons why I mentioned that buying a JR Pass need not be the best idea.

Budget travel in Japan - tips and info thread

I don't understand the language but I always made sure I had a map. Maps help a lot and they are free! When maps don't work, ask. May be tough in english but you'll get what you want :D

    Winter in Osaka / Tokyo

The nearest JR station with Shinkansen is the Shinjuku Station in Tokyo iirc. The Hakone Freepass was ridiculously convenient. It also helped that we stayed at this place where the proprietor was very friendly. He gave us a map and told us the most efficient way to travel round the area. As we...

Budget travel in Japan - tips and info thread

You might prefer the Kansai area more than Tokyo. At least for me that was the case. I thoroughly loved Kansai...... Tokyo was kinda boring since I don't like to shop. The Tokyo subway system, though intimidating, is actually nothing to be afraid of. The first day, I was kinda confused too...

Budget travel in Japan - tips and info thread

I went to Japan last year from Mid Oct to Early November. I bombed a large sum of money at the Square Enix Character Goods store, but that has nothing to do with travel costs cos I shall cut that out of my budget estimation when I tell people how much I spent there. All in, for 17 days I spent...

Oh yes, I've always been interested in stage productions and film productions. Was tempted to go for the 2 day film workshop when it was in town but I did not have the time and it was... pricey since I never felt that I would have the chance to participate in any form of film production.....

Abandoned Places - Makes good photography subjects!

I think you are referring to Pulau Tekong Kechil. I'd been there once many years ago just to stay for the night. Buildings with a lot of plant growth around it so moving around may be difficult. The walls are filled with graffiti, obviously by people who passed by there, mostly student groups I...

Noticed that some of you stated that there is no restriction to the cameras... This is incorrect. Lens longer than 150 MM is not allowed, therefore please plan accordingly and save yourself some heartache when you bring your bazooka lenses and find that it is not allowed. I know 150MM is not...

    Which film camera?

NEW?? omg! I am almost tempted to buy a second FM2!! I haven't used my FM2 for a long time now though. Just been to lazy to go out and shoot stuff and if I do I just bring my D70 cos I can d/l the photos. I prefer film over digital... cos the difference is quite obvious.

    Keehian and Debora

Hi, I was suspecting that to be true as it just feels really FF to me. However, I never managed to play much of FF10 due to the fact that I spent too much time on 11 (shame on me lol) so I couldn't really place the pieces. Reminds me to check my FF library.......
