The Kit lens 18-70mm DT ... does the job

While I never had the KM 18-70mm DT kit lens, my 7D came with the KM 28-100mm f3.5-5.6 (D) kit lens and I have to say that while its build is similar to the 18-70mm (plasticky & light), the sharpness and contrast I got from it is truly amazing for such a cheap lens. And it can be used on FF...

got $2000 to spare and a friend in australia?

Happy to be middleman to an SG buyer. Just paypal me the $$$ incl. postage to SG. But note that lens only has 12 mths KM HK warranty and 12 mths local seller warranty ... hard to get service is faulty in SG (or Oz). I prefer to get one with international warranty.

Tell me what you DUN like about 7D

I'm the opposite ... I've never plugged my 7D via USB ... always take CF card out and transfer images via USB CF card reader or plug into x-drive. Never had probs with CF ejection/insertion (touch wood!)

One of Minolta's best lenses. Highly recommended. Very sharp, excellent colours and contrast. Pity I had to let go of it to a fellow CS member  .

Sigma 600mm f8 mirror lens ... used one before?

Here an explanation of a mirror lens. http://www.photozone.de/3Technology/lenstec5.htm It's based on similar principles to a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The presence of the secondary mirror is what causes the funky donut bokeh. Some people don't like it and it does take a bit of getting use...

Sigma 600mm f8 mirror lens ... used one before?

Sigma 600mm f8 mirror lens ... used one before?

Which 500mm did you try? Surely not the Minolta 500mm 'coz I've seen some fantastic shots taken with this lens (and I'm sure Drudkh would beg to differ as well). I'm not a birding photographer, but I thought if it's good enough for birding, then it should be acceptable for other things like...

Sigma 600mm f8 mirror lens ... used one before?

I'm toying with getting an affordable mirror lens. The majority of Russian derivatives (Samyang, Phoenix, Opteka, etc.) are cheap and their photo quality generally accepted as very poor :thumbsd: . And I can't afford the best and only AF one, ie., Minolta AF 500mm f8, which normally goes for...
