Just to share, I got this "EN-EL3e" listed as "Original" on eBay. On closer inspection, its a fake. Genuine looking box, with leaflet and all. Note absence of hologram on box. Real and "Original" side-by-side, can you tell which is fake? Real and "Original". Easier to tell now...

Monopod is more useful for action shorts. Invest the money in a good tripod (carbon) if you are going to use it for travelling (a lot). Most of the guys at CP are ok, although I deal with Kelvin most of the time.

Get the 1030. The 28mm is very useful when taking pic indoors. Unfortunately, tough cameras do not come in slim packages. Alternatively, take a look at the Pentax W60. The horror stories on the internet were probably lemons. I have used my 1030 in the swimming pool with no problems so far.

I have the 1030SW. Its worth spending more to get the wider 28mm. I cannot record at 640x480 for more than 10 secs. Apparently you need the H or M+ XD cards (not available in Singapore) with higher read/write speeds. Upgrading firmware does not help. I am disappointed that the 1050Sw cannot...

Buy 2nd-hand D200 :-) Shoot scenery? Try a 20mm/2.8 Anything wider is prohibitively expensive (unless you have a deep pocket).
