thinking of jumping boat to Nikon

I was contemplating a change from Canon to Nikon too. Do a search of my nick and you know I meant seriously switching and I went over to a lot of Nikon forums to ask people for opinions since I wanted to know whats so great about Nikon. The final decision, I stayed. When I got the idea to...

Is it worth to pay for excess charges for our camera gears ?

the 7kg is usually imposed if you have very big or seemingly heavy bags when you intend to hand carry in. Most airline allows you to bring in 1 notebook bag size plus 1 backpack that you can put on top of the overhead baggage space. They have this bag mold thing (forget what you call that)...

My wife just bought me an Canon 450D

haha, tell you folks, the trick to let your wife "acknowledge" or "encourage" you to take photo is to let them enjoy the benefit of your photography to the fullest. Here is how: Before you put that ring on that special lady of yours, during my dating time, I was already plotting....One of my...

    PressLite Vertex for Flash photography

if you have ladies in your group, get a mirror from them also does the job ba. My iphone has the reflective (finger prints) protector and can be used as a reflector at times too. I'm thinking of using vertex for lighter alternative since GF LS really too damn big and take up so much space in the...

Question - Film Photos better IQ than Digital ?

either digital or film all requires a media to be shown in order to see the IQ. Film if you shoot in negs and have lousy paper, its going to be worst than a 3MP digital shoot. Slides if you use a lousy projector to project on a lousy screen, you going to get the same also. Similarly, some...

    28-300L or 24-104 + 70-200 f4 IS

Frankly speaking, I find myself use the 28-300 a lot more than my the other 2 zooms in the same range. I know a lot of photogs get those focal lengths in 2 pieces i,e 24-70, 70-200 because they wanted the f2.8 for certain events. Nevertheless, your 24-104 and 70-200 f4 is more like a walk-around...

    Serene in Cheong Sam

i dunno do you feel that or not but since your model and the setting is so oriental chinese, don't you think your model should be having dark hair having less western elements like high heels, stocking etc? Your overall photography technical settings like background, exposure, composition etc...

if u r always 1 step slower then other

Hi liki, To quote you what a Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung once said - character is your destiny! We think and do what we we want/are thinking and doing. And hence that is what eventually becomes of us. To quote you what a Singapore psychologist once written in her notes - if you do what...

What do you think about heavy lenses vs light lenses w/ IS

hi gibss, I usually prefer heavier lens because like what others says, counter balance with your body as well as countering your natural handshake. I'm using a 1 series body for canon, so if I have a lighter lens, I will have to hold my camera body to shoot and only fingers to zoom, focus if...

    Blower, simple things, big uses

I know its a trivial thing to alot of people but I have and rely on a blower religiously more than lens paper, microfibre cloths, can air, lenspen and would usually get things done with a good blow job eh...i mean just a few blowing off and the job is done. I'm retiring my 2 faithful blowers...

    Camera carrying system

I'm trying to get more opinions on the various camera carrying systems, best if you have used it for a period of time and share with us what you like and dislike about it : 1. R strap Dislike Well there is still a strap. I take alot of animal photography and the straps even though are better...

WHat bags do u CSers use with R-straps?

If u use a R strap with a bag, u will either use a backie or a waist/fanny pack that hugs to u closely. R strap is for flexibility and freedom of shooting position, I usually dun want another shoulder/sling bag to obstruct me. Before R strap becomes popular, I dun use any straps at all for shooting.

    practical OR a waste?

Digital photography equipment depends on technology much more than the olden days. Last time we always try to dig old lenses from 2nd hand shop because optically they are often more superior than the later ones. Once they discontinued, our heart sinks. That is why there is a period of time where...

Advice needed for Magnifying Eyepiece or Angle viewfinder

I use what my camera brand offers. Angle viewfinder doesn't really give you a lot of magnification IIRC. I use a angled viewfinder because I want the camera to stay lower. Can't really think of how it can help in magnifying a subject for crops. Can you elaborate how much of a crop you going to...

Enquires of Lens for landscape -

besides the uses of the focal length, as a outdoor photographer, if u going trekking in nepal, you would want a better built lens. If you are just holidaying inside a bus traveling around with occasionally dropping to sites taking them then I guess it doesn't really matter what lenses you...

    Wide Angles for Canon

an ultra wide angle is one of the most creative and challenging lens to have. Its not too dramatic as a fisheye, but yet its at a perspective that humans do not see it in their world every day. So it always poses something of a challenge to take a decent photo with that kind of angle. I have...

How good are those Canon EOS Books?

In fact my 1st criteria of a camera model or brand is how intuitive their body is. Back in manual days, we dun really need instructions manual....and even up till today DSLR era, I dun have to refer to a manual to use 1. The buttons and how the menu are arranged should be simple enough for you...
