Is this a fungus in my lens?

I can only say, besides the scientific debates, that the procedures I mentioned kept all my equipment safe for a decade, while before, means , before the light and the regular cleaning procedures, I actually had 2 lenses spoiled with fungus INSIDE A PERFECTLY WELL WORKING DRY CABINET " . I did 2...

Is this a fungus in my lens?

Before you comment on something, you should understand it first. Darkness is one of the environmental conditions for fungus. Thats why the LED light is there . By the way, UV light kill micro germs, ok , but it also has a negative effect on plastic parts, so, I would never put this in a dry...

Is this a fungus in my lens?

Looks like fungus to me. Due to the singapore weather conditions, I also had fungus before inside a dry cabinet. Fungus needs moister , light and high temperature to grow well. After changing to the following routine, I never had problems again. 1. Keep your camera and lenses inside the dry...

The Battle Royal - KING of Nifty Fifty Prime Lens

I use the Zeiss 50 1.4 on D800E ...absolutely fantastic lens. Besides the not not so fantastic review on DXO , my experience is different. It's one of the sharpest lenses I ever owned or tried . It outperforms by far my older Nikon 50mm . It is my private "reference lens".

Need help as to which macro lens to buy!

A++ for the Nikon 105 / 2.8. Fantastic lens . Not to forget, if you ever want to sell it again, the Nikon lens holds the value, while Sigma/Tamron and so on depreciate to sub-zero the moment you unpack it. P.S. DXOmark is kind of the bible for lenses ( if you know how to read and understand...

    Nikon d700 or d610 or Pentax k3

The D610 has much better high iso performance . Have a look at the well known review ( preview) website , and compare the raw for both cameras. If you look for image quality, the D610 is a clear winner. On the other hand, the K3 stores images directly in DNG format , which I like very much. I...

Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread (Season II)

A bit late , but wanted to catch up on the previous discussion about Voigtlander lenses on the A7r. In my humble opinion, they don't work well. Also I am a Voigtlander fan for the Fuji X-E1 and the Ricoh GXR-M , where they perform fantastic ( talking about the 12mm, 15mm, 21mm and 40mm , all...

LR Tips My Recapped Thoughts on “Lightroom Only” Month

Never really was a lightroom fan, but after reading your whole series ( which was absolutely great), I started working with LR . Not that it is any better than Photoshop,or that it can totally replace Photoshop, but a lot of things are just quicker and easier done. Thanks very much for this...

In pursuit of sharpness, Part II

It has been about 1 ½ years since I posted my first ( highly controversial) review of high resolution sharp images , and at that time, I was using a Nikon D800e. Well, lucky that photography is an art form, and also sometimes very controversial, there is no right or wrong. I have been called a...

Questions on hyperfocal distance, Near and Far Limit of acceptable sharpness

Thanks for the correction , so it was 8X10 not 9X12 and a viewing distance of 2 to 3 feet. You refreshed my memory. I have very bad experience with being to "relaxed" on the hyper-focal distance, meaning, the results where by far not as sharp as I expected , and the picture went to the bin, it...

Questions on hyperfocal distance, Near and Far Limit of acceptable sharpness
