    SMRT returns trains

For the record, this isn't privatisation; this is nationalization. SMRT is now a state-owned entity. Apparently, the government isn't capable of calling a spade a spade.

You are trolling and clearly deluded. Sorry. Not perfect enough. My standards too high for what they are paying themselves for. If they want to pay themselves 1 million a year fine. Do a better job instead of this bloody mess they created that started 2 decades ago.

Thinly disguised "jobs for the boys" nonsense without considering competency? Does anyone seriously expect a military man to know how to run a company straight away without at least learning to work his way up?

I am beginning to see a reason why Singapore continues to reap what it has sowed.

He wouldn't. Only an idiot will take up that hot potato post. What has happened is that the government's long held belief that the public transport market could be run competitively, while enriching state coffers in an indirect way, has bit them in the arse royally. Only the naive and foolish...

Finally a reduction in transport fare

Are you really that gullible to believe that they will actually give it?

Die die must go Western Paradise

Why bother? Just hire a foreign worker to do it. There are plenty of Mexicans around to fill in there.

Die die must go Western Paradise

If you want to settle down in America, you better best have an American degree, and a highly sought after one. Otherwise, you are better off staying in Singapore.

    It's also synonymous with underachiever.

Eh no. The United States doesn't really have great work life balance. There is a reason why the US is still the most competitive country in the world and the most productive. If you are a professional, you are likely to be working very long hours at work. The guys in New York can work like 9am...

He had pneumonia. Why did people expect him to live at all?

    Zeiss 35mm distagon 1.4 zm

Sean Reid reviewed the lens. It is noticeably superior to the Leica equivalent. The only thing is size and whether you are willing to tolerate the size. Otherwise, if I still had my M9, I'd sell a chunk of lenses to buy this one.

    Morning Jam at MRT

No difference. They instead return as little Emperors and simply lock up people who disagree with them. That's the CHINA WAY. Oh wait, we used to do that some 20 years ago. SO I guess regressing back to the good o' times must be an improvement for some.

    Morning Jam at MRT

The problem with Singapore is that there are too many management wannabes who suck at management but by virtue of connections. It's the same with the corporate world where there are many CEOs who get to positions of importance through connections and make a complete mess of things and yet get...

    Morning Jam at MRT

Doesn't change the fact that the station crew were idiots. What? They need to be told to use their brains? Thankfully this was an above ground station. If it wasn't, there'd be people fainting and such.

I think it is not just a challenge, it's just plain impossible because of the field of view.

I have used metal... I have used polycarbonate... Metal looks nice ONLY if you can keep it nice. Once there are scratches and stuff, it looks bloody annoying. With plastic? Meh. I won't give **** if there's a scratch there.

The bane of democracy - poor people

The real problem with Hong Kong is that Hong Kongers are replaceable and that there are very few ways to climb the economic ladder. No matter how much democracy there is, the threat of Shanghai and the other Eastern ports will pretty much ensure they are between a rock and hard place.
