    [wkteoh] Vancouver

The combination of rainy weathers and schoolwork meant that there is less time to go photoshooting now. However I went to Grouse Mountain again recently and there are a few pictures to share. #41 They have a bear shelter up the mountain with two Grizzly Bears. #42 It's a pretty strenuous...

    My 1st Macritchie Sunrise

No dramatic colors here, but the water-painting-like sky gives the viewer (or at least me) a serene feeling. I esp. like the cloud-formed curves in #6 and #7. By the way, what filter were you using?

Beautiful eyes and a gentle purr

Would be interesting to watch you 'worship' the cat with your L lens :bsmilie: Very beautiful cat indeed. I miss the strays in Singapore.

dohboy | I don't/can't drive, so it would be tricky to go there. But I might ask around when I am free. Thanks for the tips. The Fairmont Hotel in downtown Vancouver. It looks like a throne if you look at it from a certain angle. #40

nitewalk | #9 settings are ISO 200, f/13, 5s. Vancouver is a gorgeous place, wish I didn't have to spend so much time at/on school. ahming111 | #8 settings are ISO 200, f/13, 24s. Clubs Days at UBC Sept 24-26. #39 North Korean club. Eye-catching acronym

Another picture that I quite like from orientations in UBC. Basically it is Dance Club members in the university trying to promote their club. Tried some unusual post-processing (to me) but I am not sure if it works. #38 Just dance, gonna be ok

engta | Later la... This weekend I witnessed a latte art competition in Vancouver Public Library downtown. Somehow I wasn't chased away by the security/organizing committee so I managed to snap a few shots. #35 Trophies for the etching competition #36 There were quite a few Japanese...

Capture NX2 users, come help out a new user

Thanks for the reply Squid. I guess it's a "no" to my question. I think noise reduction using the methods you described above would not work very well with processing bird pictures at 100% size where keeping fine feather details is crucial.

Capture NX2 users, come help out a new user

Hello all, I have just started using Capture NX2 for post-processing. As some of you know, the interface is not that straightforward at times (esp. in view of me being used to Paint.NET). My plan is to update this first post to keep a list of questions (resolved and unresolved) and the...

How does noise reduction fit into your RAW workflow?

Thanks but I'm just going to stick with Capture NX2 for now, see if I can get used to it. Gonna start a new thread for NX2-specific questions.

    My Cooking Stove..

even so, it is still unusually noisy (IMO) for this image size. Are you using compact? Btw if it were me, I would use a wider angle and smaller f-number to get a similar DOF but shorter exposure time (hence less noise). But not sure is f11 was necessary in the first place?

Is one considered a photographer if he relies alot on photo-enhancing software?

I don't care if Ansel Adams or whoever famous photographer did it, but if you PP a lot then you are not a good photographer!!! Think about it, if a woman always put a lot of make up on, do you still consider her beautiful woman? :nono:

    [Pinholecam] Lower Seletar

To be frank, I prefer the first one by a fair bit. I have a few gripes with the second image: 1. It feels unbalanced - might be my hallucination, but there is probably a 0.2-0.3 degrees horizontal tilt. Small, but the structure accentuates it. 2. To add to the point above, everything is placed...

Agreed about last one. By the way nins45, if you could label the images with numbers it would make it easier for fellow CS-ers to comment on them.

How does noise reduction fit into your RAW workflow?

oh wait, I see. I can just use one copy for NR then overlay it on top of the original RAW file - then I can keep all the previous modifications done on the raw file. Need to find the steps to do it, but thanks guys.
